Pure Admiration for the Housewives of the Past

I've always had a great admiration for the past and history. It was when I started working at an Antique Mall that I found a true fascination with antique and vintage cookbooks.
Today, our society looks down at housewives of the past because they feel they were slaves to the home. Ok, they were, in some sense, but what better place to be! Women have more of a natural capability of wanting their home to be a haven, to create an atmosphere of comfort, for her and her family.
These cookbooks represent, to me, those housewives. They made their houses a home with these antique and vintage recipes that I list on my Shoppe.
I can still remember many happy memories of a warm home with the comforting smells coming from our kitchen.
